Katja Herbers has been a professional musician since she was a small girl. Herbers is the daughter of Vera Beths (violinist) and Werner Herbers (oboist). Growing up she spent time in America with her mother as she went on tours with chamber music ensemble L'Archibudelli. She was introduced to theater by her mother, cellist Anner Brylsma, as well as her father Leonie P olak. Her mother was a Canadian au pair, and she learned to speak Dutch German and English growing up. Herbers went to the Ignatius Gymnasium, in Amsterdam. She completed her studies in psychology at the Amsterdam University. While studying psychology, she was a student at De Trap theatre school. Then she went to New York City and studied at the HB Studio. She was then accepted at the Theaterschool Amsterdam. During her studies she starred in two movies Pietje Bell and Brush with Fate . Herbers was then a part of Johan Simons Theater Company NTGent Ghent. In Germany, Herbers then became an integral part of the renowned Munich Kammerspiele. They worked with directors such as Alex van Warmerdam Ivo van Hove, and Theu Boermans under whose direction she performed many Schnitzler plays which included his own monologue Fraulein Else for which she was praised with high praise. She received the Guido de Moor Award, that recognizes the best young talents. The award praised her performance in Irina Chekhov's Three Sisters.
